I get such pleasure and enjoyment from making anything for my daughter. She is so appreciative and non critical and hardly ever notices the mistakes. I can really tell if she likes things when they go to bed with her that night. I know she LOVES it when its a two night stint.
I do have a thing for crosses. I am not religious at all. In fact one of the reasons I would go to church on Sunday mornings was to see if Father Leopold was wearing one of his rich brocade Catholic robes. Anyway, neither here nor there to do with jewelry making but the silver does remind me of the alter of cups and candlesticks..hmmm...issues. So, most of the bits and bobs were from Bijou Beads and Design except for the crystal and cross - St Vinnies (there is that religious thang happening again) for a few dollars. Looking at the website I have just noticed PMC classes. I will be trying that in the near future I have decided.
Will I ever wear it?....maybe not with animal print. Perhaps with something a little more subdued it will be toned down. I'd feel like Wilma Flinstone. Yabba - you know the rest.
Some people have it, others don't. A penchant for animal prints that is. As the picture shows I have it... have had in undies, coats, bags, coathangers, slippers, shoes, and childrens pjs have not been exempt. Next is a sunglass case - an upcoming project. Even tortoise shell is roughly thrown into the genre of animal print in my book.
I have a tiny amount of time between homework, sports training, a vodka cruiser and dinner to do these posts. I usually have two hours in the evening if I'm lucky and not too bushed, to do a bit of crafting. Last night I had one such night. A bracelet. I lost my other one I made. I wear black and white..alot.
This was week twos project - a tigertail necklace. Made for my daughter. Very girly and delicate with heart, ladybug (can't really see) , flower and swirly glass beads. Again, er.. artistcally displayed against a polystyrene head that one day I intend to decoupage, when the right paper crosses my path.
Some earrings I made (oh so artily displayed on a Salvo find). There are good tutorials here that cover basically everything that I learnt over the four weeks.
This was the third weeks class project, to make a 3 stranded bracelet .I used a mixture of Moroccan tribal ,sandalwood and wood beads. Not bad for under $5.00.
Recently I completed a four weeks beginners class in jewelry making. This was the last project we made and was quite fidley. I would have liked to use more dramatic beads but five minutes into the twisting and turning of the wires I realized I should play it safe, just in case it ended in disaster. Not bad for a first effort though.
Welcome. This place is mainly for my simple handicrafts, except knitting, I dont knit....yet. Included are a few frugal finds and resonations. A place where I get got.
