live and learn
This weeks el cheapo find was this Rimini Blue pot. The candle holders were from op shop find last year. It was not until this very moment when I googled blue and italian that I knew the name of this particular style of pottery. I just called it the blue Italian stuff, as its just marked Italy on the bottom with some numbers. Fascinating. Vivere e imparare. I googled that too.

Pyrex and pav
Have had a lucky bowl finding spree in the last couple of weeks. I need these bowls, just in case. (Just in case I get the urge to cook...four things at once, ha ha as if).

No, really. I justified these purchases in my head as I bought them over and over again. "That would be good to whip the egg white for the pav in", I thought to myself, "well I've got one may as well get another", I muttered, "ooh Ive never seen that design before" I exclaimed ,"aahhh a little one to match the big one" I cooed. Before I knew it, voila, a collection.

VENI VIDI VICI
It may just look like a pot but its more than that. It is a symbol of an elusive feeling that can only be obtained when the hunt is final and you have your prize in your hand and you say Yesss a la Napoleon Dynamite, my goal is accomplished today. I have come seen and conquered.
A bit dramatic?
A bit of old tat? Perhaps?
I think not.

LAST COLLECTION SUNDAY
This is my latest collection, West German pottery.
These first two and the larger one on the right were found at garage sales in my neighbourhood and the following two at the local op shop. The last one I should say is actually for my sister as she is collecting it as well, but I only see her a couple of times a year so I have to display and dust it until then , good at displaying not good at dusting. They are striking all together.
Only problem is we live in a little house, and have run out of space. My next collection will be something small and compact, no more pottery or glass...unless the price is right, then I'll have to think about it, pottery on shelves in the loo, can it be done?

COLLECTION SUNDAY
These are a collection of ladies, but I did not realize until yesterday that basically they were all nymph like. Insert slap to forehead sound here.
The first print is by this artist. This was present to myself for my 40th birthday. The second is mine I copied from a picture of a vase from a book on ancient Greece. Done before children when time was not an issue. The other one is a Sydney Long print (clearer picture below) that I have been lugging around with me for over twenty years. Also in the picture is the garden angel who wears my necklaces and a couple of other smaller nymph pictures, that were my 41st birthday present to myself.

COLLECTION SUNDAY
Part of my clean up last week was to arrange these mirrors. They were scattered around the house willy nilly but now they are a showcase unto themselves. I don't know what era they are from , maybe the 1940's, they are not perfect, and they just gravitated to me I think, as I never really intended to collect them.

CURTAIN COLLECTION SUNDAY
Inspired by Mandas impressive vintage curtain collection here is my first installment. More to come in the following weeks.
I have a pair of these ones. Bought a couple of years ago for not much than a few dollars.

The following two are singles only and I just got them this morning at the markets. Strictly not barkcloth but a thick weave cotton. I think they are from the 70's as I can still smell the Nag Champa incense. None the less, still exciting finds.

BALLERINA COLLECTION
Ballerina's feature heavy in my psyche. Childhood memories... ra ra ra.
These are 1960's Swan Lake scenes.

I found this vintage ballerina fabric in St. Vinnies not too long ago. It is going to be used to make a bag( still a thought in progress and on my to do list)for my real life ballerina......

I am happy that I can offer thing to my children that I didn't get the chance to do. Steph got a special award for her ballet last year and she loves dancing. Her dance was Four Seasons and she is Autumn. I love the way the tulle pops up.

COLLECTION PLATE
Midwinter Stylecraft plates are as they say, what I heart. (I don't say that , I'm too old and sounds silly.) Especially when there is a large rose on them and there are six, yes six of them. All mine.

This one I featured on my last blog as an op-shop find but has made a reappearance this time as part of a collection.

COLLECTION SUNDAY
Green depression glass was my first real collection. Started in the 1980's when it was readily available for cents only and not locked up in a cabinet like now with large dollar price tags.(I really don't mean to sound bitter). I may have been drawn to it at first, maybe because I used to love watching this show.

Old things resonate with me.
