believe

Christmas already! My son Dion, his presents are already under the tree, just wrapped for effect. My daughter, Steph, Santa still has to come tonight through the front door that we leave slightly open and we have to leave a carrot, milk and a biscuit for our guests. Cute.

eve

Have yourselves a very Merry Christmas.
See you in the new year.

live and learn

This weeks el cheapo find was this Rimini Blue pot. The candle holders were from op shop find last year. It was not until this very moment when I googled blue and italian that I knew the name of this particular style of pottery. I just called it the blue Italian stuff, as its just marked Italy on the bottom with some numbers. Fascinating. Vivere e imparare. I googled that too.

fickle

My son didn't like the plain black and white pillowcase from Ikea. I do. I embellished it a little.

australia 1986

This is a picture I cut out of a magazine and stuck in my 'what i like' book. If memory serves me correctly it is Leona Edmiston's kitchen. What struck me of course was the plastic bag holder hanging in the corner. Old tea towel + sewing = i can do that.

There, done. Quick fix on a Sunday.

A bit of gardening is what I hope to be doing this week-end.

computer says no

It seems we have used all our usage for the month and Bigpond says NO COMPUTER FOR YOU. Mongrels. This will not stop me from posting everyday this month.
This is daughter Stephanie's handiwork. Found on the camera recently.

Found on the table a few years ago. I personally don't mind this. I do not encourage it and secretly I like it.

five for a dollar

Tips on restoring creased up lanterns. Hold them over hot steam and voila, they pop back to life or very rehabilitated at best.
True. I did fifteen of them.

DUCK OFF OR ON

This couldn't languish in its packet any longer. I am more than certain than I will actually never make this up into what it is originally meant for (a pillow or stuffed toy?)
So bathroom wall decor it is. I would use the word art but that sends my household into hoots of snickers and jibes. "Oh! I don't know if I should shower or sew first". Common... place remarks like that.
Water of the proverbial.

ALOOMINUM

A 195o's caravan from the fair. So small, not my idea of a good holiday, I must say. It would be just like staying home. Even the interior reminded me somewhat of my home, in particular the aluminium pots. 'Look mum'! Steph said and then walked away shaking her head and giggling. For indeed inside was a dripping pot.

These have been popping up everywhere on my rounds. I got a cake tin as well. I will not use them for foodstuffs though. I think I read a connection about Alzheimer's and aluminum. Now what was I saying.

End part two of 195os fair talk.

ONE HOUR ON SUNDAY

The old recycling bag we had in the kitchen had seen better days (an old calico ham bag from Xmas gone by) so being retentive that I am, had to make new one.
R also stands for REALLY quick. Nothing flash, very serviciable.

STAGES

My daughters room has had an incarnation every year or so. From being a pink and purple lover she now has gone to lime green.
Earlier in the week I freezer papered stencilled(but I used photocopy paper) these patterns on to the curtain.

This is her cubby house under the bunk bead which also doubles up as a make believe classroom and private movie theatre.

I was inspired by a page in this book.

CORNER OF THE KITCHEN

Time for a change in the kitchen. These two little fellas are in danger of damage from grease and steam so...

Claire, will you show yours?

No great work of art here. Cheap Spotlight letters stating the obvious.

DOTS, PREFERABLY RED AND WHITE

Give me dots and stripes and I'm happy.
Pillows from recycled blanket and new fabric.

These are my take on the little hand towels that you find at stalls run by the little old ladies, the ones with crochet tops and the buttons. Recycled tea towel with press studs just slung around the kitchen handle.

Dining room chairs. Picture enhanced a wee bit, I have a somewhat shaky hand. The light is really changing with the winter upon us.

KIDS IN THE KITCHEN

A quick look around my kitchen and it is scattered with my kids artwork. I like it that way, I know no other way.

3

We have just changed bedrooms, hence my son has gone red and daughter now green, see previous post.
Tye dyed quilt cover. He wanted it. Going through a Greg Brady phase.

I did originally buy these from here to go in his bedroom, but decided they were too nice not to be shared. I really love them and so happy I was able to purchase some.

AM I LIVING VICARIOUSLY?

These two views are from Stephanies dollhouse(s). A summer and winter residence. I yearned for ONE when I was younger but alas...

New framed artwork which thrilled her. She is already a mad shoe girl. I hardly ever wear really high heels, she squeals when I do and always egging me on to buy them when we go shopping. The frames were from a garage sale for 20 cents each and I cut out this picture from a magazine.

The bedroom decor in the winter house is edging towards modern. She was not so impressed with my attempt at absract. The quilt she liked, the pillows were at the client's request. Always keep the customer satisfied.

DOESN' T TAKE MUCH

It does not take much to make me happy (well it does actually, but another time).
These are calisthenics 'skittles', not sure if that is the correct name or not. I have not seen them for ages. I nearly wet my pants when I found them in an Adelaide second hand shop for $2.00.
My plan is to make a decorator statement with them and also..

a blown up picture of this. It's a round about in Port Adelaide. Maybe it will look chi chi.
