believe

Christmas already! My son Dion, his presents are already under the tree, just wrapped for effect. My daughter, Steph, Santa still has to come tonight through the front door that we leave slightly open and we have to leave a carrot, milk and a biscuit for our guests. Cute.

Have yourselves a very Merry Christmas.
See you in the new year.

5 baubles

This years baubles all complete. Phew. Although there are only 5. One got smashed in a school shoe incident, and if it weren't for the season for to be jolly I would be quite peeved.

not a cracker

OK its the 1st of December, the Christmas tree goes up in our house.
We haven't seen all this stuff in a year and its just...well, like Christmas!
I will show crafts of years gone by as I cannot show any new things cause Ive got zilch at the moment.
The gold stars are dough. They have stood the test of time. They are about 4 years old now. The deer is from last year and a 2005 ball hand painted with my sons name on it.
At the moment I am quite bereft of time and hope to get some sewing done soon. Im getting all itchy and nervy about it.

doin' stuff

balls

The sewing machine hasn't been singing my song lately so I thought I would start on these Christmas balls. I bought the clear balls at Spotlight last year or the year before. Its all a blur. I remember they were v. cheap. So yesterday I started drawing with the Pebeo pen. I've never used this before. Quite satisfying, albeit my hand is a bit of a wobble, which I will put down to adding to the charm of the desired finish.
The 'inspiration'(aka rip-off) for the design is from the tea towel underneath. The only o.s find for this week, some weeks are like that.

Christmas decorations or designer balls?

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Well it's that time of year again where stress levels in my head reach the maximum I can bear, so I will leave this blog until 2007.

I am quite charmed by this ornament I found garage saleing recently, but on close inspection she looks rather like Margaret Thatcher. She is stamped 1973 and plays Silent Night when wound up. My daughter made a little Santa hat for her which adds a bit of whimsy to her Thatcheresque demeanour.

So a Merry Xmas to whoever drops by and a happy start to the year.

WREATHS

I love fluff. It's all fantasy though isn't it? i.e fluff = snow of which we never see at Christmas, always hot as hell in Sydney. Last years wreath gets another gig. Three metres of feather boa from here. Mmm..so soft.

With a little help from me, my daughter's effort. She did the beading, of which she did an excellent job and was very proud of her efforts.

2 HOURS TOPS

Quick and easy to make. My kind of thing. I say two hours for people with children, without kids an hour. These are from vintage barkcloth , buttons and pattern fromLittle Birds Handmade.

WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN

East of Bethlehem (picked up for a dollar at the markets and jazzed up with glitter) there is a lovely forest with white pristine horses.

West of Bethlehem is a quaint little village, the avenue lined with snowy pines.

Overlooking the baby Jesus is the tiniest 2cm angel dangling from the fluffy tree from Target last year. This would have made me scream with delight as a child, now I do it on the inside, as an adult.

ALL THAT GLITTERS

I love these little Christmas houses. So easy to make and a welcome change from fabric and sewing.
So happy with them but for now they will be packed away until December.

I ordered the glitter from Stampington as I could not find it in Australia. The service was excellent, here in three working days but the price...gulp.

GETTING IN EARLY

I am starting early on Christmas this year or is it I am just catching up from last year?
These are little houses for a Christmas village. To be painted next week. The pattern comes from the book Vintage Christmas Crafts.
